ABOUT
OUR HOSPITAL

Montgomery Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1989 by Dr. James "Jim" Fischer. Jim put his heart and soul into the hospital forming it into one of the most reputable hospitals in Orange County today. His veterinary skills and dedication to the animals was steadfast and unmistakable. His compassion and commitment were unwavering.
Jim, without a doubt, loved what he did. We, here at Montgomery Veterinary Hospital, love what we do. We lost our founder on January 9, 2016 but our commitment to the hospital, and continuing his legacy, is as strong as ever.
We have restructured the hospital. You will see the same old faces working behind the scenes but you will also see several new faces. We will have a new team to assist you and your pet’s healthcare needs. From general wellness, dentistry, spay and neuter, surgeries, to in depth diagnostics. We hope to address all your pet’s healthcare needs as faithfully as we have in the past.
ABOUT
OUR STAFF
Melissa Grech-Attard, DVM
Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Grech was raised in Orange County, New York and after a stint in California came to realize that her calling was here in the Hudson Valley Region. Growing up, she was involved in the local horseback riding club, G&M, from the age of four until she went off to college at seventeen. For as long as she can remember, she has had a passion for helping people with their animals, be they horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, or any other fur baby.
Dr. Grech graduated from Cornell University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. She went on to St. Kitts, where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University, followed by her clinical year, which she completed at Auburn University in January of 2010.
Following graduation, she opened a mixed animal practice in Malta, Europe where she met her husband, Charles. Together, they returned to New York where she worked at the NYRA circuit of Thoroughbred racing at Belmont, Aqueduct, and Saratoga.
Dr. Grech has special interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic imaging. She is also a certified dog trainer specializing in obedience and anxiety-caused behaviors. Above all, she strives to offer down-to-earth, honest, and passionate care to her patients and clients. In her spare time, she loves to find adventure with her beloved German Shorthaired Pointers, spend time with her daughter, husband and horses, and also lend a hand at the local humane societies and rescue groups.
