Montgomery Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1989 by Dr. James "Jim" Fischer. Jim put his heart and soul into the hospital forming it into one of the most reputable hospitals in Orange County today. His veterinary skills and dedication to the animals was steadfast and unmistakable. His compassion and commitment were unwavering.
Jim, without a doubt, loved what he did. We, here at Montgomery Veterinary Hospital, love what we do. We lost our founder on January 9, 2016 but our commitment to the hospital, and continuing his legacy, is as strong as ever.
We have restructured the hospital. You will see the same old faces working behind the scenes but you will also see several new faces. We will have a new team to assist you and your pet’s healthcare needs. From general wellness, dentistry, spay and neuter, surgeries, to in depth diagnostics. We hope to address all your pet’s healthcare needs as faithfully as we have in the past.
Melissa Grech-Attard, DVM
Dr. Grech was raised in Orange County, New York and after a stint in California came to realize that her calling was here in the Hudson Valley Region. Growing up, she was involved in the local horseback riding club, G&M, from the age of four until she went off to college at seventeen. For as long as she can remember, she has had a passion for helping people with their animals, be they horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, or any other fur baby.
Dr. Grech graduated from Cornell University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. She went on to St. Kitts, where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University, followed by her clinical year, which she completed at Auburn University in January of 2010.
Following graduation, she opened a mixed animal practice in Malta, Europe where she met her husband, Charles. Together, they returned to New York where she worked at the NYRA circuit of Thoroughbred racing at Belmont, Aqueduct, and Saratoga.
Dr. Grech has special interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic imaging. She is also a certified dog trainer specializing in obedience and anxiety-caused behaviors. Above all, she strives to offer down-to-earth, honest, and passionate care to her patients and clients. In her spare time, she loves to find adventure with her beloved German Shorthaired Pointer, spend time with her horses, and lend a hand at the local humane societies.
Bonnie is a Montgomery Native and has been with Montgomery Veterinary Hospital since 1994. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her 3 granddaughters. She was fortunate to grow up with horses, ponies, cats and dogs and have a career being able to care for others 4-legged family members!
Shara grew up on a small dairy farm in Wallkill. Her love of animals started at a very young age helping her father take care of cows, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. She has been working In the veterinary field since she was 16 years old. Her passion has always been caring for dogs and cats in the field of small animal care, as a veterinarian technician. If she's not home snuggling with her cats, you'll find her driving around with her dog Sushi in search for new places to walk or at local dog parks for some puppy playtime.
Lauren has a Performing Arts degree but always found herself volunteering with animals. She began working in the animal care field back in 2012. She has worked in different shelters and rescues throughout the Hudson Valley taking care of both cats and dogs. Most recently, she was working for a large sanctuary with a focus in feral cat socialization and rehabilitation. Lauren has a passion for animals and is excited to join the team at Montgomery Veterinary Hospital.
Ev started shadowing at MVH in Spring 2019, but she showed so much interest that she was hired to stay as part of the team. She is a full-time groomer by trade. She has a beautiful King Charles Cavalier, Juliet, that she loves spending time with and she loves being around animals during her spare time.
Jocelyn first began caring for animals in the rescue world and worked very closely with many veterinarians and veterinary technicians. This exposure to the medical side of animal care made a huge impression and she knew she wanted to grow her skillset and help all of the pets she possibly could. Jocelyn makes it her mission everyday to make all visitors to the hospital feel welcome with a smile and a tasty treat. She currently lives in Pine Bush with her cats Ra, Princess, Pip and Squeak.
