Pet Vaccinations in Goshen, NY

Keeping vaccines current is one of the simplest ways to protect your dog or cat. Montgomery Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned practice in Montgomery, NY, serving Goshen and Orange County. Dr. Melissa Grech-Attard, Dr. Jessica Fabiano, and our team build vaccine plans around each pet’s age, health, and lifestyle. Learn more on our vaccinations page.

Core and Lifestyle Vaccines, Explained

Not every pet needs every vaccine. We think of them in two groups.

Core vaccines are recommended for nearly all pets. For dogs this includes rabies and the combination vaccine that protects against distemper and parvovirus. For cats it includes rabies and the combination vaccine for common respiratory viruses and feline distemper.

Lifestyle vaccines depend on how your pet lives. Depending on risk, we may discuss leptospirosis, Lyme disease, and bordetella for dogs, and feline leukemia protection for some cats. Our team will talk through your pet’s routine, and we will only recommend what makes sense for them.

Puppies, Kittens, and Adult Pets

Puppies and kittens begin a series of vaccines early in life, with boosters spaced a few weeks apart. We will give you a schedule at the first visit and explain why each step matters. Our puppy and kitten care page covers what else to expect in those first months.

Adult pets need boosters on a schedule that depends on the vaccine, and your veterinarian will adjust it as your pet’s health and lifestyle change. Senior pets are not left out: their needs shift, and a vaccine plan is part of our senior pet care conversations. Vaccines work best as part of a regular wellness exam, which is also when we can catch small problems early.

Vaccines, Travel, and Outdoor Life Around Goshen

Orange County has plenty of places where pets meet other animals and the outdoors. Before you board your dog, start a grooming or training class, or head out on a hike, it is worth checking your vaccine records. Many boarding and daycare facilities require proof of rabies and bordetella vaccines, and wooded areas bring ticks that can carry Lyme disease. Our post on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention in the Hudson Valley pairs well with a vaccine visit.

If you are traveling with your pet, ask us about USDA health certificates. Bring your pet’s records if they have been seen elsewhere, and we will help you get up to date.

Schedule Your Pet's Vaccines

We welcome new patients from Goshen and across Orange County. Our practice is Fear Free certified, so we work to keep each visit calm, especially for puppies and kittens who are just learning what the vet is like. If your pet is anxious about car rides or the clinic, ask about our house call service.

We offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry, and discounts for qualifying seniors, military families, commuters, and multi-pet households. Visit our financing page or ask our team for details.
